Terry Durbin is an amazing singer/songwriter living in Los Angeles, CA. Terry writes music in the Adult alternative Rock genre and his songs speak to the heart. Terry was born and raised all over California. He grew up listening to Bob Dylan and you can hear this influence in his music today. Terry lists Coldplay, REM and U2 among his current favorite bands. His sound has been compared to Coldplay and Elvis Costello. The lyrics are cutting and thought provoking. He sings directly to the heart. Terry has a Smokey voice which has a smooth melodic quality which envelopes the listener and captures the imagination.
His songs are a reflection of his real life struggles with relationships, fears, and addiction. Terry shares a part of himself that is very personal and very painful. His songs are a journey into the mind of a man on the road of recovery and reconstruction. The music is still catchy and fun to listen to, but at the same time one can feel the urgency to do things right this time.
Durbin has been working closely with James Mankey, (Concrete Blonde, Sparks), who recorded and co-produced Terry’s current CD, “Funny That Way” which is distributed by East if Sideways Music (Barry Keenan) (Trevor McShane). James also plays guitar on several of the songs on the album. Terry and James are joined by the powerful bass playing of William Tutton, (Geraldine Fibbers, Extra Fancy, Born In Death Valley) and the steady beat of drummer, David Kendrick, (Sparks, Devo, Glenn Meadmore). Terry has worked with these musicians for many years and the chemistry they share is evident in the way they are totally in synch on every song.
Terry Durbin says that music is his only real passion and he believes it is the reason he is on the planet. With his passion for music and his knack for songwriting combined with his amazing vocals and musicianship, Terry Durbin music is a must have for any music library.
